I Am Winning!

I decided to check my email one more time that afternoon, and there it was. My test results from the blood work my Functional Doctor ordered the week prior.

I work with a few natural clinicians but this one prescribes my Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) and my Thymosin alpha-1 (Ta1 peptides). It has been about a year now since starting the Ta1 and things have been going great, but it was time for my phone appointment and a few tests. One of those tests as you know for those who follow me, is CREATINE KINASE (CK), also known as creatine phosphokinase (CPK).

I really didn’t have any expectations because I have been very pleased with my declining numbers over the past year. However, I was not yet within normal range. I still get a few butterflies just before I open the results so click……128! I was sitting alone in my living room, and I let out a scream and a, “Praise God!” and will admit a few tears fell. This was the first time since my diagnosis in 2013 that this number was within normal range. Even when I was on immunosuppressive drugs, I could not get this number to get under 1000.  I suspect I have had elevated CK for over 10 years. I was told early on that without medication I would never see remission (I do not like that word).

In August of 2018 I decided to stop taking the drug called Mycophenolate (Celcept). I was now four years into a brand-new diet and lifestyle and was doing well.  My CK was not moving much. I believe that I was feeling better and regaining strength due to some healthy protocols I started and not the drug I was taking.  I have had many tests and have gone through many procedures like removing my Amalgam fillings, treating an abscess in my mouth, and detoxing. I keep an eye on hormone levels along with vitamin D levels and more.  I had already decided to no longer see my Rheumatologist. She was against any Natural doctors and made it known that my nutrition and lifestyle changes had nothing to do with my improvement.

This post is not to bash the conventional medical world or to tell you I am against medication. Both can be a good temporary solution. However, the conventional medical doctor seems to only know one solution, and that is lifetime meds to manage the disease.

We have amazing tools available to us including nutrition, supplements, and self-care. Conventional medicine seems it ignore these things that I feel have contributed to my success.

Healing is possible. I am living proof. So many Myopathy patients only see a normal CK after being heavily medicated, or they experience so much muscle loss that it can no longer be recorded.

Nutrition does matter. Getting to the root cause matters. Proper support matters. Getting the proper testing done and taking the proper supplements, along with self-care play a huge part in healing. I have been working hard for the last eight years to heal my overlapping autoimmune diseases. This last week was a big win for me. Now I will work hard to maintain this result.
